As Seen On TV: Indoor Electric Grill

© 2009 Written by Joanne Darcy, Country Fair

Well...I fell for another gadget that I saw on TV! I bought the Redi-Set-Go "indoor electric grill"...and I loved it immediately because it's RED!

I am trying to eat healthy and love to have baked fish at least twice a week, but I hate to turn the oven on to bake a single 6 oz piece of fish. This was the answer. It has a non stick coating on the top and bottom of the 'wells'. There two heating elements that cut down cooking time in half by cooking food from the top and the bottom . It takes about 2 minutes to pre-heat the unit, then you are instructed to spray a non-stick cooking spray on the inside. I place my fish, add some seasoning and a few tablespoons of bread crumbs on top and 7 minutes later....baked fish that is tender and moist, and best of all low-fat. I've also cooked boneless chicken breast..again, 7 minutes and it's done. Omelets are great too...they come out very puffy in about 5-6 minutes. And you don't have to 'watch' your food while it's cooking.

There were several additional items that I received; a spatula, another pan that is divided if you want to cook 2 separate items and a mini food pan, perfect for small appetizers. There were recipes also included. The machine has a built in timer and stores easily.

Now, the 'cons'. It really is designed to make a meal for 1...I'm not sure two pieces of fish would have fit in it. But since it only takes 7 minutes, you could certain pop in another meal. I've even put a sandwich inside to "grill" it on both sides...without any fat. Clean up is easy, if the food sticks a little to the inside, I put a small amount of water and let it sit for a few minutes. The machine itself cannot be immersed in water, but it's easy to clean the inside with a sponge and a little dish soap.

My overall score: A. I really like this 'electric grill'.
